Daylords Return

Daylords Return, the sequel to character comedy double act Morris & Vyse’s 2010 show Daylords, returns its incredulous audience to the eponymous ITV7 daytime show.

Hapless presenters Olive Hands (body double for Heather Small from M People) and Greer Cod (in need of a kidney transplant after Hands stabbed her on live TV) are trying to revive the future of their programme with a thrilling new range of guests, but will luminaries including an anti-marriage lifestyle coach, a teenage celebrity donor and some Swedish peace singers be enough to save the day?

The frenetic pace and simply realised characters who fight for stage space in Daylords Return are everything I wanted from “Arabella’s Revenge.”: Hopping into the aisle to doff a wig and drag on a pair of fake testicles, the two-woman cast’s lo-fi but tightly timed transformations are as much of a joy as their succession of darkly comic performances.

Whether playing a recovering alcoholic with her hands in oven gloves or an angelic choirboy who was interfered with by a TV presenter, both Anna Morris and Beth Vyse delight with a frenzied hour of comic anarchy. Highly recommended.
